Integrated ORC-SOEC system for green hydrogen production from incineration of solid fuels

Abstract In the present paper, green hydrogen production from biomass and municipal solid waste is evaluated, targeting circular economy energy transition objectives pursued through waste-to-energy valorisation. particular, study consists in designing modelling a system that integrates oxide electrolyser (SOEC) an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) powered by combustion of or (MSW). The resulting efficiency, corresponding to 100.70 kg/h optimal scenario, varies between 15.44% 22.70% depending on operating conditions considered. Although one hand, this efficiency far cold gas alternative gasification process, other, incineration shows larger processing capacity fewer restrictions categorization. Moreover, unlike traditional treatments, proposed concept can yield three outputs, namely pure hydrogen, electricity, heat, allowing greater flexibility according end users’ requests achieving cogeneration than 80% every mode. Furthermore, some fairly simple preliminary aiming reduce MSW water content, increase rate.
